The Apple A/UX¬Æ operating system is based on AT&T UNIX System V, Release 2, Version 2. It includes many 4.2 BSD enhancements that make porting 4.2 BSD programs to A/UX easy. It gives programmers access to the Macintosh Toolbox utilities, so programs written for A/UX can take advantage of pull-down menus, include different type styles and sizes, and integrate graphics with text, giving A/UX programs the look and feel of other existing Macintosh programs.
